Safari booking guide

Permits open on the Forest Department’s official portal and both gypsies and guides are limited, especially on weekends and holidays. Book early. We assist with advance permit guidance and gypsy coordination at Sarhi Gate, which is just 5–10 minutes drive from the property.

What to carry

  • Original photo ID matching your permit
  • Warm layers for winter mornings
  • Neutral coloured clothing
  • Camera, binoculars and extra batteries

Safari permits, zones, vehicle allocation and timings are controlled by the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department. We assist with booking but cannot guarantee permits, zones or wildlife sightings.

Why Sarhi Gate?

Sarhi is one of the newer and less crowded entry gates of Kanha Tiger Reserve. Its routes pass through dense sal forest, bamboo stands and open meadows where tiger, leopard, gaur, sambar, chital and many bird species are regularly seen. Fewer vehicles mean a quieter, more natural safari.

Best time to visit

  • October–February: pleasant weather, lush forest, cold mornings — carry warm layers.
  • March–June: warmer days with excellent chances of wildlife at water holes.
  • July–September: core zones usually closed for monsoon; the buffer may remain open as announced by the Forest Department.
